Who We Are
As you set foot within the Gates of Opportunity, you will find practically endless possibilities to learn and grow. One such opportunity that you should take advantage of is using this time in college to grow closer with Christ, or to meet Him for the first time! The Baptist Collegiate Ministry exists precisely for this reason. We aim to give students the opportunity to be in community with other students, hear from God’s Word, learn what it has to say for their current situations as students, and ultimately grow stronger in their faith and closer with Christ.
Baptist Collegiate Ministry is by no means only for Southern Baptists. Our weekly gatherings and discipleship opportunities are available to all students at College of the Ozarks. But please know, our teaching and ministry acts wholly in line with the belief that the Word of God is authoritative for our lives, and as such, we will not accommodate or promote the false teachings that you may find in other religions. We aim to be faithful and true to Scripture as we teach, disciple, and evangelize.
Join us for a weekly community gathering for praise and preaching (and some good snacks)! Get involved with BCM to hear from God’s Word regularly, have chances to interact with and get connected to some of the nearby local churches, as well as have opportunities to serve.
We will be meeting every Thursday at 9:00PM in the Christian Ministries Lounge, starting Fall of 2025. We hope to see you there!
A Little Bit About Us:
Hi, my name is Nathan Sharon. I am the BCM Director at College of the Ozarks. My wife, Betty, also supports me in this role, being very involved in our ministry to the students. Our baby girl, Sophia, she’s just an attention hog. Everyone absolutely loves her!
Betty and I both graduated from College of the Ozarks in 2021. She received her degree in Family Studies and Social Work (as well as two minors, one in Psychology and the other in Biblical & theological studies…she’s incredible!). She is also working on her Master of Theological Studies in Biblical counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
My lineup is much shorter. I received my degree in Biblical & theological studies, and then moved on to receive my Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I do aspire at some point to begin working on a PhD, but that would require me getting over the terror of that first.
Sophia is our little bobcat! She is around a year old, and whenever we bring her to our weekly BCM gatherings, she seems to have all the attention, all the time. And she likes it that way.
We relaunched the former BSU (now rebranded as BCM) in January 2025. That first spring was kind of a soft start. We learned so much as we began getting our feet wet in college ministry, and re-familiarizing ourselves with College of the Ozarks. Now, we are so excited to see what God will do as we take everything we learned and launch into the fall semester!
Please come join us on Thursday evenings at 9:00 pm in the Christian Ministries Lounge. We will be having a wonderful time hanging out, hearing from God’s Word (we will be going through the Sermon on the Mount) and worshiping God together. We hope to see you there!
